The invention relates to a blank for producing a shaped part for use in dentistry, the blank having a blank body (2) which is made of dental restoration material and from which, by means of a tool (4), the shaped part to be produced can be worked by material removal. The blank has coding (1) formed on a part of the surface (6) of the blank body (2), with at least one structure (8, 9) for identifying the blank. The coding is composed of a plurality of fields (5.1) on the surface (6) of the blank body (2) and of a plurality of fields (5.2, 5.3) of planar structure (8, 9) with a height (h1, h2) that can be differentiated at least from the surface (6) of the blank body (2). The invention further relates to a method for identifying a blank with coding (1). |
