<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ink pan that is able to uniformly supply and attach to a plate cylinder roll even a highly viscous coating liquid or application liquid such as ink, and that facilitates cleaning by reducing the capacity of the ink pan, and hence the amount of application liquid or the like. <P>SOLUTION: In the ink pan for a gravure coater or gravure printer, which supplies a coating liquid or the like to a plate surface by immersing a plate cylinder roll into a coating liquid or an application liquid such as ink, which has been stored in the ink pan, the bottom of the immersed portion of the plate cylinder roll has a saw-teeth shape in cross-section perpendicular to the rotary shaft of the plate cylinder roll.
