<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a highly uniform and highly dense sintered cubic boron nitride compact having high hardness by sintering at a condition of 5 GPa and ≥1,400°C without using a sintering aid in the production of the sintered cubic boron nitride compact. <P>SOLUTION: The highly uniform and highly dense sintered cubic boron nitride compact is obtained by dispersing a cubic boron nitride raw material powder in a sodium metaphosphate solution to deflocculate secondary particles in the cubic boron nitride raw material powder; drying the dispersion to remove water to make a molding; removing residual sodium metaphosphate by heating the molding in vacuum; and then sintering the molding in the presence of a supercritical fluid source, for example, one or two or more kinds of polyvinylidene chloride, polyvinyl chloride and polyethylene, under the high pressure high temperature condition of 5 GPa and ≥1,400°C. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT |
