<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent or suppress an air bag from entering into a cabin in a pedestrian protection device which inflates and expands the air bag toward the vehicle front of a front pillar. <P>SOLUTION: In the pedestrian protection device for expanding the air bag toward the vehicle front of the front pillar, when a front door glass is lowered beyond a predetermined position (ε>ε0) upon prediction of a collision, the front door glass is raised to at least the predetermined position (ε=ε0). Then, the opening width between the upper end of the front door glass and a front door frame can be reduced, preventing or suppressing the air bag from entering into the cabin when the air bag is inflated and expanded. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT |
