PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for promoting industrial utilization of an oxidized cellulose and expanding utilization applications; and to provide a product thereof.

SOLUTION: The oxidized cellulose is manufactured by controlling the reaction temperature in the range of≥30 and≤70°C when polysaccharides from celluloses as a raw material is subjected to an oxidation reaction using at least a nitroxy radical derivative, an alkali bromide and an oxidizer as reaction reagents.
