PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sound source estimating method which easily allow estimating the position of a sound source even if the direction of the sound source is out of a video region of a video capturing means. SOLUTION: A camera platform 13b installed on a tripod 13a on an attaching pedestal 13 is installed, a microphone fixing mount 11D fixing microphones M1-M5 is installed on the upper part of the camera platform 13b, and a video capturing means 12 is rotatably attached on the camera platform 13b via a rotating means 14. The sound source direction is estimated using sound pressure signals output from the microphones M1-M5, and the magnitude of a horizontal angleθin the estimated sound source direction is compared with the maximum view fieldθ<SB>Max</SB>and minimum view fieldθ<SB>min</SB>in the horizontal angle direction of the video capturing means 12. If the magnitude of the horizontal angleθis larger thanθ<SB>Max</SB><SP>-γ</SP>or smaller thanθ<SB>min</SB><SP>+γ</SP>, the video capturing means 12 is rotated to photograph the sound source position.
