PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To remove foreign substance S adhered to an intermediate transfer belt 12 from the same belt 12 without depending on a removing member for removing the foreign substance by rubbing to the intermediate transfer belt 12. SOLUTION: A curable solution 16 is fed to the foreign substance S on the intermediate transfer belt 12. The curable solution 16 fed to the part to which the foreign substance S on the intermediate transfer belt 12 has adhered is hardened by a hardening apparatus 23 through the intermediate transfer belt 12 in the condition of contacting a recording medium P, and then the foreign substance S is transferred to the recording medium P. Thus, since the foreign substance S is transferred to the recording medium P after of hardening the curable solution 16 fed to the foreign substance S, the foreign substance S adhered to the intermediate transfer belt 12 is able to be removed from the intermediate transfer belt 12 without depending on the removing member for removing the foreign substance with rubbing to the intermediate transfer belt 12.
