PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image processing apparatus in which a ground portion is detected through one time scanning and post-processing is properly performed in accordance with a detection result. SOLUTION: The image processing apparatus includes: a first image-processing unit for processing an image signal input from an image input unit; a ground level-detecting unit for detecting a ground level within a preset range, in the image signal from the image input unit, and generating a ground detecting signal; a page memory for holding the image signal from the first image-processing unit and the ground detecting signal in the unit of a page; a second image-processing unit for processing an image signal outputted from the page memory while using the ground detecting signal as a control parameter; and an image output unit for outputting the image signal processed by the second image-processing unit.
