PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sliding member which makes seizure resistance and mechanical strength compatible. SOLUTION: The sliding material uses a copper-based sintered alloy as a base material and contains manganese sulfide. In the raw material powder for the manganese sulfide, the grains having the grain sizes in the range of 4 to 6μm are contained in an amount of≥50% based on weight, and the maximum grain sizes of the raw material powder is≤12μm.
