The device has a parking lock device (10) locking a motor vehicle drive strand (11) in a form-fit manner. A regulating and control unit (12) adjusts defined drive torque in an operating mode. The regulating and control unit adjusts probable compensation drive torque during loosening of the lock device to reduce drive train torque tension. A wheel sensor (13) determines a parameter i.e. vehicle weight, as a function of the regulating and control unit in the operating mode at a no-load holding condition. The regulating and control unit releases the lock device to set constant drive speed. An independent claim is also included for a method for locking a motor vehicle drive strand device.
