<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical pickup device that properly records or reproduces information to/from different two or more kinds of optical disks while reducing the size and cost. <P>SOLUTION: A first luminous flux and a second luminous flux pass through a liquid crystal element LCD, to change the light emitting direction.
