GRATING ELEMENT AND METHOD FOR MANUFACTURING THE SAME, AND OPTICAL PICKUP DEVICE USING THE GRATING ELEMENT

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a grating element for applying antireflection treatment on protrusions and grooves of the grating, and preventing shape misalignment of the protrusions of the grating caused by a shadowing effect thereof.

SOLUTION: The grating element is equipped with a diffraction structure in which protrusions 202 and recesses 203 are periodically arranged. The diffraction structure is formed on a dielectric multilayer film which functions as a reflection adjusting layer AR2 to adjust reflectance for light of a wavelength to be used. The protrusion 202 is formed of a dielectric multilayer film which functions as a phase adjusting layer PH to apply a predetermined phase shift amount to light of the wavelength to be used. A dielectric multilayer film formed by laminating the reflection adjusting layer AR2 and the phase adjusting layer PH is an antireflection film AR.
