<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical transmission system capable of appropriately determining the polarization split signal. <P>SOLUTION: The optical transmission system includes a polarization-multiplexing optical transmitter 20 for transmitting an optical signal, where an X-polarized signal and a Y-polarized signal, each having a predetermined frame structure are polarization-multiplexed, to an optical fiber transmission path 140; and a polarization-multiplexing optical receiver for receiving the optical signal that has propagated through the optical transmission path 140. The polarization-multiplexing optical transmitter 20 delays an FAS in the Y-polarized signal by a predetermined delay time τ, relative to an FAS in the X-polarized signal, and the polarization-multiplexing optical receiver includes a polarization separation part for splitting the received optical signal into two polarized signals orthogonal to each other; a time difference detecting part for detecting a time difference of FASs between the two polarized signals; and a polarization determining part for determining which of the two polarized signals is the X-polarized signal or Y-polarized signal, based on the time difference. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT |
