PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing an acylsilane by using specific 1,3-dithianes as raw materials without discharging an environmental pollutant. SOLUTION: The method for producing the acylsilane represented by formula (2) includes subjecting a compound represented by formula (1) to dethioacetalization reaction by using a niobium (V) compound-iodide compound catalyst and hydrogen peroxide. In formulas (1) and (2), R is a substituted or unsabstituted aromatic ring, or a substituted or unsabstituted alkyl group; and R<SP>1</SP>to R<SP>3</SP>are each independently a substituted or unsabstituted aromatic ring or a substituted or unsabstituted alkyl group.
