PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vehicle periphery monitoring device in which a driver can perform drive operation proactively without gazing at a screen, being able to check caution objects of vehicle periphery instantaneously. SOLUTION: The vehicle periphery monitoring device which monitors the vehicle periphery when parking a vehicle includes an image acquisition portion 2 which acquires the image of vehicle periphery imaged by an imaging device 12 installed in the vehicle, a caution object setting portion 5 which sets a plurality of caution objects in the periphery image in the process of parking, a display image generation portion 6 which sequentially changes the caution object according to the parking process from the plurality of caution objects, making it as a gazing point, and generates a display image in which the gazing point is positioned in the center, a translucent image generating portion 7 which generates at least the contour of the vehicle existing between the gazing point and the driver as a translucent image, and a display control portion 3 which makes the translucent image overlap on the display image and display it in the display device 20 in the vehicle.
