A method and an apparatus for calibrating a low frequency clock are provided in the present invention. The method includes the following steps: calculating the low frequency clock frequency in a current low frequency clock calibration, also, calculating the average value of the low frequency clock frequencies for n times of the low frequency clock calibrations before the current low frequency clock calibration, wherein n is lager than 1 and n is an integer; judging whether the difference between the low frequency clock frequency in the current low frequency clock calibration and the average value is less than a preset difference threshold or not; if the difference between the low frequency clock frequency in the current low frequency clock calibration and the average value is less than the preset difference threshold, calculating sleeping periodicity according to the low frequency clock frequency obtained by calculation in the current low frequency clock calibration. With the method and apparatus of the invention, the calibration time of the low frequency clock is reduced, and the occurrence of the phenomenon that a terminal loses a network is decreased. |
