The present invention relates to a method for producing a web (1) of a laminate material (1a) for retaining faeces. The method comprises laminating first and second webs (3, 4) to form an intermediate laminate web (7), providing transversal slits in the intermediate laminate web and expanding the intermediate laminate web such that the slits are opened to openings. An expanded intermediate laminate web (16) is formed by the expansion. The expanded web is laminated to a third web in order to fix the expanded web in an expanded state, whereby the laminate material web (1) is formed. In addition, the present invention relates to a method of producing an absorbent article comprising a step of producing the laminate material web (1) according to the method according to the invention.
