<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image processing method and an image processing apparatus for extracting a main object region with high accuracy, by simple processing from color image data in which a scenery scene is photographed. <P>SOLUTION: In the image processing method for extracting main object region by an operating section from the color image data photographed and stored in a storage section, the operation section executes: a color specification number reduction step of generating color specification reduced image data obtained by reducing the number of color specifications by each piece of color component data to the image data in which color specification of each pixel is performed by a plurality of pieces of color component data; a specific color removal step of generating specific color removed image data obtained by removing pixels constituting a specific color whose number of pixels becomes a maximum from the color specification reduced image data for each single peripheral region or for a plurality of peripheral regions among colors to be specified by the color specification reduced image data; and a first main object region information generating step of generating region information on a region in which color specification pixel distribution of the specific color removed image data becomes dense as main object region information of the image data. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT</p> |
