摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing anα-olefin polymer having high stereoregularity; and to provide a method for producing anα-olefin polymerization catalyst applicable to the production method and having a high activity excellent in the controllability of the molecular weight by hydrogen. SOLUTION: The production method for anα-olefin polymerization catalyst comprises steps of: (1) reducing a titanium compound represented by formula (I) (wherein R<SP>1</SP>denotes a 1-20C hydrocarbyl group; and X<SP>1</SP>denotes a halogen atom or a 1-20C hydrocarbyloxy group, and all the X<SP>1</SP>s are identical or different; and a denotes the number of 1 to 20) with an organomagnesium compound in the presence of a silicon compound having a Si-O bond, to produce a solid catalyst component precursor; (2) bringing the solid catalyst component precursor, a halogenated compound and an internal electron donor into contact with each other to produce a solid catalyst component containing a titanium atom, a magnesium atom and a halogen atom; and (3) bringing the solid catalyst component, an organoaluminum compound, an external electron donor represented by formula (II): R<SP>2</SP>Si(OC<SB>2</SB>H<SB>5</SB>)<SB>3</SB>(wherein R<SP>2</SP>denotes a 3-20C hydrocarbyl group whose carbon atom bonding to Si is a secondary carbon atom), and an external electron donor represented by formula (III): R<SP>3</SP><SB>n</SB>Si(OC<SB>2</SB>H<SB>5</SB>)<SB>4-n</SB>into contact with each other.
