PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To restore updater promptly and efficiently at update interruption or data damage by a printer operation failure. SOLUTION: A server includes updater as a single set of firmware having a plurality of component files collected for each version. A printer obtains the updater from the server, performs update on component function basis, and preserves processing results on processing basis, and when update interruption occurs, the printer updates a component function of which update processing is not completed with reference to the preserved processing result by restart. If there is a component function incapable of performing update processing due to data breakage, the printer transmits the processing result to the server, obtains the updater relative to the component function of which processing is not completed, and performs reprocessing of the component function concerned based on the data thereof.
