PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal display device and a manufacturing method for suppressing the contact of an aligned film formed by flexographic printing and a sealing material. SOLUTION: In the liquid crystal display device 10 in which a pair of substrates 11, 16 are stuck together by a sealing material 21 so as to face each other, and liquid crystal 27 is enclosed in the inside, the aligned films 14, 19 are formed respectively on the surfaces on the side of the liquid crystal 27 of the pair of substrates 11, 16, and liquid-repellent films 15, 20 are formed between the end parts of the oriented films 14, 19 and an area 21a where the sealing material 21 is formed.
