<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a discharge lamp system in which an inexpensive LED can be used as a starting auxiliary light source. <P>SOLUTION: In the discharge lamp system in which the LED 11 is arranged as the starting auxiliary light source in the vicinity of a cold cathode ultraviolet ray discharge lamp 1 without preheating before starting, the LED 11 to radiate visible light or white light is used. In the case the LED 11 has a structure of covering an LED chip with a resin material, the portion of the resin material of the LED 11 is covered with a cover of a material to have characteristics of transmitting the visible light but not practically transmitting the ultraviolet light. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT |
