PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electronic zoom apparatus capable of switching an object subjected to zoom processing with high operability even when a plurality of objects are recognized within an image to be processed. SOLUTION: The electronic zoom apparatus includes: an image display unit 19 for displaying an image on a display screen; an object detection unit 13 for detecting a plurality of objects within the image displayed on the display screen; a reference position detection unit 14 for detecting reference positions of the detected objects; a ratio calculation unit 15 for calculating ratio parameters which vary in accordance with sizes of the detected objects with respect to the display screen; a central position change unit 16 for setting, as a zoom center position O, the reference position of a first object whose calculated ratio parameter meets a prescribed reference; and a zoom control unit 17 for performing zoom processing of the image displayed on the display screen around the zoom center position. When the ratio parameter of the first object does not meet the prescribed reference any more, the central position change unit 16 changes the zoom center position from the reference position of the first object to the reference position of a second object whose ratio parameter meets the prescribed reference.
