PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a plasma display panel in which the deterioration of phosphor due to impure gas discharged from a protection layer is suppressed and discharge characteristics are stabilized so as to make superior display quality. SOLUTION: A manufacturing method of a plasma display panel having a front substrate, 11 in which a plurality of mutually parallel display electrode pairs, a dielectric layer, and a protective layer are formed, and a rear substrate 17, in which a plurality of mutually parallel data electrodes, a foundation dielectric layer, a barrier rib, and a phosphor layer are formed. The protective layer includes at least one of calcium oxide, strontium oxide, and barium oxide, and magnesium oxide; and the sealing step, to arrange the front substrate 11 and the rear substrate 17 face to face and seal with a sealing material 25 has a heating step to heat the sealing material 25 and further has, an exhaust step to evacuate inside the discharge space 26 formed by the front substrate 11 and the rear substrate 17, arranged facing at heating start or in the middle of heating of the heating step.
