PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a manufacturing method for an organic electroluminescent element obtaining a target film thickness while preventing color mixture in an organic light emitting layer as well as forming a uniform film in film formation and to provide the organic EL element without failure or unevenness and a high definition organic EL display by applying the manufacturing method. SOLUTION: The manufacturing method for the organic EL element having at least the organic light emitting layer and a cathode facing a pixel electrode (anode) with the organic light emitting layer in between on a rectangular substrate 10 with the pixel electrode formed sectioned by a partition wall 3 including a pattern that is parallel to one side of the substrate 10. The organic light emitting layer is formed on the pixel electrode on the substrate 10 by having organic light emitting ink containing organic light emitting material transferred by a printing method and at the same time, the organic light emitting layer is formed with a plurality of organic light emitting ink layers as one layer by transferring the organic light emitting ink a plurality of times in the manufacturing method.
