PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a traveling support device capable of preventing unnecessary traveling support when an obstacle recognized as a risk potential in the horizontal direction does not affect the traveling of own vehicle. SOLUTION: A traveling support device 1 includes: an outside vehicle information recognizer 31 for recognizing objects around the own vehicle; a risk distribution creator 32 for creating the distribution of the risk potential in the horizontal direction of each object; an information acquirer 33 for acquiring the height information of the risk potential in the distribution of the risk potential in the horizontal direction; a travel capability evaluator 34 for evaluating the position where the risk potential is generated is capable of traveling when the height information of the risk potential is higher than the predetermined value with respect to the height of the own vehicle; and a travel route creator 35 for determining the position where the risk potential is generated as a travel route when the position where the risk potential is generated is capable of traveling.
