PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make stick-slip hard to occur in a contact portion between a key bolt and the key groove of a shaft and to make abnormal noise and abrasion caused by slight movement of the key bolt hard to occur, in a bearing unit employing a method for guiding the tip end of the key bolt by the key groove. SOLUTION: In this bearing unit, the outer ring 2 of a rolling bearing is fitted to a bearing housing 1 and fixedly housed therein, the key bolt 4 passed through a portion extending in the axial direction of the inner ring 3 of the rolling baring and projected radially inward is fixedly fastened by a nut 5, and a shaft 7 with the key groove 6 is retained. A rectangularly annular rubber packing 9 is provided for surrounding a contact surface 8 with respect to the key groove 6 of the key bolt 4 and on this occasion sealing the contact surface 8 and the sidewall surface of the key groove 6, and lubricating oil or lubricating grease is held on the contact surface 8 surrounded with the annular rubber packing 9 while being applied thereto.
