PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an active matrix type display device or the like which obtains low power consumption, while having a pixel built-in storage circuit. SOLUTION: Each of a plurality of pixels 100 arranged in a matrix of row and column includes a display element Cl, having a first terminal and a second terminal, the second terminal that is connected to fixed potential; a control switch Q11 for controlling the supply of image data to the first terminal of the display element Cl; a holding capacitor Cs having a first terminal and a second terminal; the first terminal that is connected to the first terminal of the display element Cl; and holding the image data supplied to the display element Cl via the control switch Q11; and a storage circuit 200 for storing a voltage state at the first terminal of the display element Cl. The display device has a voltage supply part 40 for supplying a voltage switched in multistage, that is, two or more stages to the second terminal of the holding capacitor Cs, in synchronization with refreshing operation of the storage circuit 200.
