PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a plant monitoring and controlling system that allows a user to browse screen data sent from a monitoring and controlling apparatus body, by using a general purpose personal computer, and produces a hard copy of the screen with a general purpose printer. SOLUTION: A general purpose personal computer 9 and a printer 10 are connected via a general purpose LAN 8 to the monitoring and control apparatus body 6 connected to plant equipment 1 via a controller 4 and a plant bus 5. The monitoring and control apparatus body 6 includes a screen data conversion part 62 for converting a display screen displayed on a display 7 for the monitoring and control apparatus body 6 into screen data that is displayed and printed with the general purpose personal computer 9. By a command from the monitoring and control apparatus body 6, the screen data converted by the screen data conversion part 62 is sent to and stored in the general purpose personal computer 9 via the general purpose LAN 8, so that the screen data is viewed and printed with the general purpose personal computer 9.
