PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an imaging apparatus capable of performing smear correction with high accuracy. SOLUTION: A solid-state image sensor 5 includes: a plurality of photoelectric conversion element arrays consisting of photoelectric conversion elements 51, 52 arranged in the column direction Y; and electric charge transfer units 53 provided one by one at the left side of the photoelectric conversion element arrays according to the respective photoelectric conversion element arrays, wherein a drive unit 10 includes a smear correction unit 19 which forms packets for accumulating electric charges at positions of the electric charge transfer units 53 corresponding to the respective photoelectric conversion elements, reads, only from the respective photoelectric conversion elements 51 of the photoelectric conversion element arrays in odd-numbered columns, the electric charges to the packets for accumulating electric charges corresponding to the photoelectric conversion elements 51 at this state, after that, transfers the electric charges to be accumulated in the respective electric charge accumulation packets in the column direction Y to perform drive for output of signals corresponding to the electric charges from the solid-state image sensor 5, and subtracts a second signal obtained from the electric charge accumulation packets corresponding to the respective photoelectric conversion elements 52 from a first signal obtained from the photoelectric conversion elements 51 among the signals output from the solid-state image sensor 5 to correct smear.
