PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an information processing apparatus and an information processing method enabling a wide and flexible search for contents that have similar features, and to provide a program. SOLUTION: The information processing apparatus includes a feature quantity extracting section for extracting from one motion image content a plurality of feature quantities as information representing features of the moving image content; a labeling section for making the extracted feature quantities correspond to a person or a background; a matching level determining section for determining the level of matching between the feature quantities made to correspond to the person, or the background and feature quantities in another moving image content; a comparing section for comparing a plurality of feature quantities in a single scene of the one moving image content, from which the feature quantities have been extracted, with a plurality of feature quantities in a single scene of the other moving image content; and a relativity inferring section for inferring relativity between a single scene of the one moving image content and one scene of the other moving image content according to the comparison results.
