PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a novel secondary bile acid-decreasing agent, more particularly a novel agent decreasing a dehydroxylation product of the 7-position hydroxy group among secondary bile acids formed by reductive metabolism of a primary bile acid. SOLUTION: The agent decreasing a dehydroxylation product of the 7-position hydroxy group among secondary bile acids formed by reductive metabolism of a primary bile acid includes an electron acceptor as an effective ingredient. The agent directly intervenes in bile acid metabolism of an enterobacterium to more effectively inhibit formation of a secondary bile acid exhibiting intestinal carcinogenicity thereby to decrease a carcinogenic secondary bile acid compared with conventional ones exhibiting indirect actions.
