PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a wire working apparatus and a wire working method capable of forming longitudinal holes and transverse holes at the same time. SOLUTION: The wire working apparatus includes a ram 14 having punches 151-156, a die block 17 having dies 181-186 opposing the punches 151-156, an advancing/retracting unit for advancing/retracting the ram 14 to/from the die block 17, and conveying units 201-206 which chuck a wire 1 to fingers f1, f2 and convey it from the upstream die to the downstream die. Longitudinal holes 2, 3 are formed in the wire 1 in its axial direction by the punches 152, 153 and the dies 182, 183 on the upstream side. Then, the fingers f1, f2 of the downstream conveying unit 206 receiving the wire 1 with the longitudinal holes 2, 3 being formed therein are horizontally turned by 90°by a horizontally turning device 30. A pin 196 for drilling which is held by the punch 156 is advanced in an advancing hole A formed in the finger f1, and a transverse hole 4 is formed in the wire 1 with the longitudinal holes 2, 3 being formed therein.
