The straightening roll has a straightening surface (21,22), which is curved along the roll axis and is defined by a corresponding curved generatrix (23,24). The generatrix has two turning points (25,26,27,28). Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a straightening roll assembly with a straightening slot; and (2) a method for straightening of rotationally symmetrical work pieces.
