PLGF-based means and methods for diagnosing cardiac causes in acute inflammation

The present invention relates to the field of diagnostic measures. Specifically, it relates to a method for diagnosing a cardiac disease as a cause of a symptom of acute inflammation in a subject exhibiting said symptom comprising determining the amount of the biomarker P1GF in a sample of said subject; and comparing said amount to a reference amount whereby a cardiac disease is diagnosed as the cause of the symptom of acute inflammation in the said subject. Further encompassed are diagnostic devices and kits for carrying out the aforementioned methods.
