The device (1) has a housing (6) arranged below a windscreen of a vehicle, and a control device for executing a navigation process. A display device displays information on an image surface (7), and a capacitive detection electrode (8) detects approaching of an object and/or a body part to the device. The sensor system has a direction-dependent detection function for differentiating the approaching of the object and/or the body part from an area before the image surface from approaching of wiper arms from an area over the windscreen. An independent claim is also included for a method for operating a portable electronic navigation device. |
