<p>The device has maintenance units (18) for maintaining an object (40), and support units for supporting the maintenance units. The support units include translation elements that are constituted by rigid plates (22, 24), a pair of slots (26, 28) and another pair of slots. The translation elements permit translation of the object along three axes that are orthogonal to each other. A ball joint (60) articulates the object with the maintenance units and the support units.
