The device (10) has an envelope (B) defining sealed volume (V) inside an elastic structure such that variation of pressure between interior and outside of volume causes elastic deformation of the envelope along radial direction from an initial state toward a pressing state allowing co-operation of the device with ends (C, C') of piping. A rebalance of the pressure between the interior and outside of the volume provided by elastic deformation is formed at an intermediate connection state between the initial state and the pressing state. An independent claim is also included for a process for connecting underwater piping.
