New hydroxylated and hydrogenated oligomer derived from a conjugated linoleic acid ester useful for preparing cosmetic formulations and polyurethanes

Hydroxylated and hydrogenated oligomer (II), derived from an conjugated linoleic acid ester (I), is new, where: the number average molecular weight of oligomer is less than 10000 grams per mole; and (II) is obtained by hydrogenation of an hydroxyated oligomer of conjugated linoleic acid ester. Hydroxylated and hydrogenated oligomer of formula (HO-C(-(CH 2) x-CH 3)-CH 2-CH 2-CH(-(CH 2) y-COOR) n-OH) (II), derived from an conjugated linoleic acid ester of formula (R1-CH=CH-CH=CH-R2-COOR) (I), is new, where: the number average molecular weight of oligomer is less than 10000 grams per mole; and (II) is obtained by hydrogenation of an hydroxyated oligomer of conjugated linoleic acid ester. R1 : CH 3-(CH 2) x-; R2 : -(CH 2) y-; x+y : 12; COOR function : a carboxylic ester (COOR); and R : methyl, ethyl, propyl, isopropyl, butyl, isobutyl, pentyl or 2-ethyl-hexyl. Independent claims are included for: (1) cosmetic formulations obtained from hydroxylated and hydrogenated oligomer; and (2) polyurethanes obtained from hydroxylated and hydrogenated oligomer.
