PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide the forging technique for increasing the amount of bending of a workpiece. SOLUTION: So as to be shown in Fig.(a), a bar-shaped workpiece 26 is arranged on a lower mold 12 in a bending stage. At this time, the bar-shaped workpiece 26 is stably arranged by a projecting part 36. By moving an upper mold like an arrow (2), the bar-shaped workpiece 26 is pressed. Thereupon, the workpiece 26 is bent into a V-shape so as to be shown in Fig.(b). By moving the upper mold 11 like an arrow (3), the upper part of the workpiece 26 is released and a knock-out part 37 is moved like an arrow (4). Because the bending direction of the bar-shaped workpiece coincides with the pressing direction, the pressing force is utilizable to bending force as it is and the amount of bending of the workpiece is increased.
