摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a stator for electric rotating machines wherein it is possible to avoid contact between turn portions to reduce damage to an insulating film when any vibration is produced and prevent insulation failure. SOLUTION: The stator 3 of an electric rotating machine 1 includes an annular stator core 30 having multiple slots 31 in the circumferential direction and stator windings 4 formed by winding multiple conductors 40 having in-slot winding portions 43 and turn portions 44 on the stator core 30. Each of the turn portions 44 has multiple stepped portions 45, 46a to 46c parallel to an end face 30a of the stator core 30 in different positions in the direction of the axis of the stator core 30. Among gap distances d1, d2 and d3 between the stepped portions, opposed to each other in the axial direction, of turn portions 44 extended from the in-slot winding portions 43 adjoining to each other in the circumferential direction, the gap distance d3 between the uppermost stepped portion 45 located farthest from the end face 30a of the stator core 30 and the third stepped portion 46c is made larger than the gap distances d1, d2 between the other stepped portions.
