PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a transmission belt device for a continuously variable transmission that excellently maintains straight advancing properties of an element in a belt-straight-line part. SOLUTION: The transmission belt device 1 includes: a number of plate-like elements 10 that are arranged in a thickness direction by aligning their positions with each other; and an endless annular ring 30 for uniting the elements 10 aligned annularly. In one surface 10a of abutting surfaces 10a, 10b of each element 10, a noncontact area B1 that does not come into contact with adjacent elements 10 in the belt-straight-line part in which the elements 10 are arranged linearly, is provided, and also an inside contact area A1 that comes into contact with adjacent elements 10 on an inner surface side of a belt and an outside contact area A2 that comes into contact with adjacent elements 10 on an outer surface side of the belt, are provided by interposing the noncontact area B1 therebetween.
