PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liner plug for a teat cup, which protects the teat cup not mounted on a teat not to be stained by the scattering of excreta or the like during milking, and to provide a method for using the same. SOLUTION: The liner plug provided to close a fitting insertion port 22 for a teat 15, formed with the liner 21 of a teat cup 20 of a milking machine, includes: a projected part 31 which is inserted into the fitting insertion port 22 and fitted up; and a cover part 33 concentrically provided with the projected part 31 to cover and protect the edge end surface 23a and the outer peripheral surface 23b of a peripheral wall part 23 for forming the fitting insertion port 22.
