The invention relates to an apparatus for producing and/or detecting a flow in a medium, comprising - a carrier element (1), which can be brought into contact with the medium (2); - a plurality of moveable structures (3) which are arranged on a surface (11) of the carrier element (1), wherein the carrier element (1) should be arranged, with respect to the medium (2), such that the moveable structures (3) project into the medium (2); and - a transmitter for producing surface acoustic waves in the carrier element (1), wherein surface waves which are excited in the carrier element (1) set the carrier-element surface (11), on which the moveable structures (3) are arranged, and thus also the moveable structures (3), alternately in movement having a component in a first direction (A) and in movement having a component in a second direction (B) which is opposite the first direction (A).
