<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical multiplexing/demultiplexing element that is achieved in non-dependence on a temperature. <P>SOLUTION: In the optical multiplexing/demultiplexing element, an optical waveguide array 14 equipped with first to sixth optical waveguides 12<SB>1</SB>to 12<SB>6</SB>in which first part optical waveguides 12A<SB>1-6</SB>mutually different in temperature dependence properties of an equivalent refractive index and second part optical waveguides 12B<SB>1-6</SB>are serially connected, an input side planar waveguide 16 connected to one end of the optical waveguide array, an output side planar waveguide 18 connected to the other end of the optical waveguide array, an inputting optical waveguide 20 connected to the input side planar waveguide, and outputting optical waveguides 22<SB>a</SB>to 22<SB>c</SB>connected to the output side planar waveguide are formed in a clad CL having a refractive index difference of≥40% by using Si. In the first to sixth optical waveguides, (1) at each sequential increase of an optical waveguide number i, an optical path length increases by a constant valueΔl, (2) at each sequential increase of the optical waveguide number i, all geometric lengths increase by constant valuesΔL, and (3) at each sequential increase of the optical waveguide number i, the geometric length of the second part optical waveguide increases by a constant valueΔLa. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT</p> |
