<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a medium processor which can convey a recording medium without delay when performing a read operation of magnetic ink characters. <P>SOLUTION: In the check processor 1, a gap L between a first print head 15 and a first platen 14 is set in a wide second gap until a print area 100b of magnetic ink characters 100a in a check 100 passes through a read position A. Then, after the print area 100b in the check 100 passes through the read position A, the gap L between the first print head 15 and the first platen 14 is set in a first gap narrower than the second gap. Since the gap L between the first print head 15 and the first platen 14 is wide on a read operation of the magnetic ink characters 100a, contacting of the check 100 with a second print head 19 to be caught can be prevented or reduced even when a tip end of the check 100 reaches the print position and the check 100 passes through a first print position B. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT |
