<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus achieving miniaturization of an attachable/detachable unit and improving attaching/detaching operability. <P>SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus includes a unit 1 having a cleaning means for removing a foreign matter adhering to a surface of a latent image carrier on which a latent image is carried, a housing 30 for housing the cleaning means, and a discharge part 33 having a discharge port 34 for discharging the foreign matter removed by the cleaning means to the outside of the housing 30, and is constituted such that it is detachably attached to an image forming apparatus body in a vertical direction.
