The method involves storing two data sets (M1, M2) received from traffic-related data using a memory unit (4). The data sets of the traffic-related data are filtered using a data processing unit (5) according to predetermined relevant criteria and merged into a combined data set (M) by another data processing unit (7) if the data sets satisfy a predetermined fusion criterion. The filtered and/or fused traffic-related data is transmitted to a motor car driver. The relevant criteria are evaluated based on current position, a current travel route or current car specifications.
