<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make a developing portion, which supplies a developer to an image holder, less likely to come into contact with an accommodating container when the accommodating container accommodating an image holder for holding an image is inserted into the body of the apparatus or pulled out from it. <P>SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus includes: the accommodating container for accommodating a photoreceptor drum 4 so that the photoreceptor drum with an image held thereon is kept exposed; the body of the apparatus, in which the accommodating container is inserted up to a predetermined position; a developing device 5 accommodating a developing sleeve so that the developing sleeve is kept exposed, the developing sleeve being used for supplying the developer to an image holder accommodated in the accommodating container inserted up to that position; a pressing member 54 for pressing the developing device 5 in the direction in which the developing portion accommodated in the developing device 5 approaches the photoreceptor drum 4 when the accommodating container is inserted into the body of the apparatus; and a contact section 31 provided in the accommodating section and configured such that over a certain period of time that the accommodating container is inserted toward the position in the apparatus body, the contact section is kept in contact with the developing device 5, presses the developing device 5 against the direction in which the developing device is pressed by the pressing member, and before the accommodating container reaches the position, the contact section ceases to press the developing device 5. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT |
