PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a chat system that transmits character information among a plurality of computers connected by a communication line while effectively utilizing conversation data. SOLUTION: After distributing and displaying an object for providing a common topic, document information is transmitted. A chat device receives the distributed object from an object server, displays the object on a display part of the chat device, and transmits the character information. The object server includes a character information storage part for storing the character information transmitted by the chat device in association with the distributed object.
